Why YES was created

Say YES to Hope was first created in 2007 as YES! Beat Liver Tumors (with the tagline “Say YES to Hope”) by three stage 4 survivors and two stage 4 caregivers for stage 4 cancer patients and their caregivers. The purpose was simple…to ensure that anyone facing a diagnosis of liver tumors have options at their fingertips and to escape the fear and isolation that the founders once felt.

As time passed, it became obvious that the need for resources, options, and support being provided to those with liver tumors were vital to all advanced cancer patients and their caregivers regardless of where cancer has spread. A vast chasm of need for this little discussed, often forgotten, and largely neglected population exists and requires more attention and research, encouragement and communication, and awareness so that isolation and fear are decreased and that HOPE is shared from the moment the words “your cancer has spread” are uttered.

With the help of a small army, we moved forward to expand our mission to encompass anyone affected by advanced cancer. Our core programs will be incorporated with additional resources and campaigns included.
